On Sunday, November 6, 1988 at 2:00pm, thirty-eight God-fearing men and women came together at the Allendale Senior Citizens Complex, for the purpose of organizing a church, which was named The Village Baptist Church of Maryland. Rev. Zollie D. Bagby was called to be the Pastor and preached, “There’s a New Doctor in Town” (Luke 4:16-23).
Our church grew and the Lord blessed us to purchase a lot on the corner of Hilton Street and Lohrs Lane. There, we had a groundbreaking ceremony for our new edifice on May 16, 1993 and our dream became a reality on December 11, 1994, as we marched into our new home at 100 South Hilton St.
Additionally, our expansion project in 2004 enabled us to add a steeple and an elevator, upgrade our sound and security systems, and construct a multi-story building adjacent to house administrative offices, a conference room and several classrooms.
